Here it goes...my second attempt at a blog! The previous was purely as a means to an end for my first portfolio, and this one I suppose could be classed as that, but I also want to make an actual go of it. I read other peoples blogs all the time, so why shouldn't I have my own?
I'm a definite late starter to the blogging world, purely for the simple reason that I much prefer talking to people. I think that simple communication is definitely on the decline with social networking sites such as facebook and myspace not helping the situation.
A first hand example that I experienced the other week whilst on some work experience, was that colleagues would email each other whilst sitting on just the floor below. This is something that they were talking about minimising, but it made me think that technology, as useful and opportunity rich as it is, may be detrimental to the ways in which we communicate.
Don't get me wrong I am the first to use facebook and send a lot of emails, but I am still very much a telephone person. I love a good natter, and definitely use more minutes on my mobile than I do texts. (Not only for the reason that the buttons on my new phone are so minuscule that you cant see them.)
A lot of people see the phone as a scary thing and find it daunting ringing possible placements and employers. My tip is; Just Do It. I've been putting this blog off for ages, but this morning I told myself to just get on with it. SO here is it, who knows where it will go...
